29th Annual Protectorate Tournament - Canton of Borderwinds (Santa Maria, CA)

Hark! Tis the rumble of feet & the clash of swords sounding throughout our humble yet mighty canton for the coveted title of Lord Protector. Bestow the title of the Lady of Love and Beauty upon your consort. Show your prowess on the field of honor, place a wreath of victory upon your consort, place your mark upon the baldric and have your consort be honored at the annual Court of Love (held in Feb). It is time once again to choose by right of arms our next Lord Protector and Lady of Love and Beauty. Come join us for a day filled with pageantry, revelry, frolicking, food and fun (not necessarily in that order). This year's Protectorate Tourney is only open to local fighters, but the Fabulous Prize Tourney is open to all. All Protectorate entrants must have their consorts present to be eligible, per Crown Tournament Rules. Fighting begins at 11:00 a.m.

Contests: Best: Death, Salute to Consort, Salute to opponent, Mourning, Most Chivalrous, Childs Garb(worn), Rhyme with no Rheason (original works). Chocolate dish (No Coconut), Tartes of Flesh (Meat Pyes) consisting of beef, pork, venison, or fowl, or a mixture of those meats. - as well as the annual Tarnmist Bardic Competition, piece to be determined on site as in previous years. Activities for the small ones throughout the day. Silent Auction. A&S Table will be available. The Canton will provide bread and charcoal for the potluck & BBQ after the fighting; If you wish to participate, bring your favorite BBQ item, and dish to serve 8 as follows(legal last name): • A-H: Salads or veggies; • I-P: side or main dishes; • Q-Z: desserts. If you have a specialty dish you'd like to bring instead, please email the autocrat.

Site Information: Pioneer Park 1000 W. Foster Road, Santa Maria, CA.

Site open: 9:00 a.m. Potluck BBQ, mid-afternoon. Fighting begins at 11:00 a.m.

Site fee: $5 member/$7 non-member. Children 12 and under free. **

Directions: From the north: Take your best route to Highway 101 to Santa Maria. Take the Betteravia Exit, turn right (west), and **proceed to S. Broadway (4th light); turn left (south).
