Bid Proposal for New Crowns #2

Orla O'shanahan of Ealdormere

I do humbly and joyfully present you the labours of my mind and hands, in concert with your requests and paying heed to your words of advice.

In designing these coronets for the Kingdom of the West, I endeavored to maintain a strong connection to the past and existing, well loved regalia. The understated elegance and simplicity has been a hallmark of the West's royal coronets. Understanding that the designs of new coronets need to show the kingdom's pride in the past and moving forward, as well, they must be well suited for the rigors of travel and regular wear. These many considerations form the cornerstone of these designs.

The height of the coronets range between 2.25” at the highest points and 1” at the ebb of the curves. The inside diameter of the King's will be 24” and the Queen's will be 23 1/2”, each with a rounded bottom edge for comfort. Internal padding will be sewn in place to allow for easy, periodic removal and a good range of adjustability. All of the surfaces are ornamented in a low relief and solidly connected. The settings will be sturdily built bezels so that regular maintenance will be minimal and polishing will be simple and straightforward.

The designs incorporate engraved, forged, tooled and pierced elements. The layers and bezel settings will be soldered in place for maximum strength and durability. The main motifs are of oak leaves, laurel leaves, a wreath of roses and the central rose. At the base of the round jade cabochon settings are engraved designs giving due honor to each of the principalities of the West. The jade and 14kt yellow gold accents exist, to in some small measure, reflect your kingdom's wealth of talent, beauty and strength in precious and durable materials.

It is possible to create this design without the 14kt yellow elements, the lower of the quoted costs reflects this option. I am open to consulting and adapting theses designs as the populace see's fit, so long as the durability and strength of the structure is not compromised

I've included 2 renderings for the queens coronet, each have parts of them I love too much to not share them both. I welcome your opinions and kindly offered commentary. In addition I've attached a selection of my previous coronets, in an attempt to show some of the diverse styles, skills and techniques I employ in my art.

Many thanks for your time and consideration.
