Bid 5

These crowns are in the style of the iron crown of Lombardy, a 4th or 5th century reliquary, and represent both the traditions and the long history of the West Kingdom. The golden bronze and green stones reflect the colors of the kingdom while the images used reflect our traditions. Each crown is comprised of 8 hinged plates of bronze and silver with inset stones. An inner and outer plate would be held together by rivets allowing for both a sturdy construction and ease of repair. The stones will be held by integral bezels between the plates allowing for ease of replacement in case of damage but a strong and sturdy construction that will hold up well to the rigors of travel. The silver adornments will be cast and riveted in place to also allow for replacement or repair and to further anchor the plates together. The overall height will be just under 4 inches with each large plate measuring 3.125 inches across and the smaller plates ranging from 3.125 to 2.5 inches.

Sizing will be achieved with both an adjustable liner that will allow for fine adjustments and a set of replacement plates that will allow for larger adjustments. The size will range from 21.5 to over 25 inches and allowances can be made for smaller or larger heads in the future if necessary. The liner will incorporate a system of adjustable straps that go over the head and allow for both adjustment of where it sits on the sovereign’s head as well as taking some of the weight off of the brow area. The liner will consist of these straps as well as an adjustable band of padding and a cloth liner. The Queen’s crown bears a rose within a rose on all 8 panels while the 4 main panels also bear a yellow stone within the center rose. The roses on the main panels sit above a pair of oak leaves and acorns that represent the support of the King during their reign together. The King’s crown bears 3 oak leaves and 3 acorns with a yellow stone set in between on the main panels and a branch of 3 oak leaves and 2 acorns on the secondary panels These are held up by a rose and rose leaves representing the support of the Queen during their reign as well. The main body of these crowns will be bronze or even gold plated with silver or silver plated castings riveted on. The stones will be green and yellow topaz cabochons or cut stones depending on preference of the regalia committee and the populace.

I will also provide a sturdy storage container that will hold the extra plates and additional pins for the hinges as well as supporting the crowns for travel. The total cost of these crowns will be only the materials and and specialized equipment I will need to create them. It is my honor and privilege to live in this beautiful kingdom and the glorious duty of maintaining and repairing these crown over their lifetimes will be small repayment for the years of support and encouragement I have received. If the budget allows for more than that cost I will gladly donate it back to the kingdom to help repair the other crowns or to fund other projects.

Yours, always in service Baron Luiggi Giovanni di Rossi A.K.A. William Conn
