Another year has passed, and the Baroness of Eskalya once again calls for fighters to demonstrate their worthiness to serve as her champion for the coming year! A contest of arms will be held to determine the new champions for both heavy armored and rapier fencing fighters, giving combatants the opportunity to demonstrate their prowess, courtesy, and courage. Fighting for both the rapier and heavy championship will be themed around the giving and receiving of honorable challenges. The challenger will select what weapon or weapon style they would like the challenged fighter to use. But beware! The fighter receiving the challenge gets to select what weapon the challenger will use! This presents opportunities for fighters to demonstrate their chivalry in setting up challenging fights for themselves, in treating generously when selecting weapons for their opponents, and in rising to meet asymmetrical challenges should they arise. Full details of the conventions of combat will be provided at the event.

Written Directions to Site: 

From Wasilla, Eagle River and the North – take the Glenn HWY into Anchorage. Follow the Glenn as it turns into 5th Ave. Turn Left on L street/Minnesota Drive. Take the Raspberry Rd Exit. Turn Right on Raspberry Road. Turn Left on Jewel Lake Rd. Turn Left on Strawberry Road and immediately turn left into the Parish parking lot.

From Kenai and the South – Take the Seward HWY into Anchorage. Take the O’Mally Rd/Walter J Hickel PKWY exit. Turn Left onto Walter J Hickel Pkwy. Take the Raspberry Road Exit. Turn Left onto Raspberry Road. Turn left onto Jewel Lake R. Turn Left onto Strawberry Road and immediately turn left into the Parish parking lot.

Terrain Description:    Indoor at church, note parking lot will have gravel, potentially making it uneven terrain. Fighting will be in a gravel parking lot.

Insects or wild animals to be aware of on/ near site:    We will be on the lookout for moose and bears, but a visit from one is unlikely. Bug spray may be helpful for those wishing to watch the fighting outside, but most of the even t will be indoors.
