This year’s theme is period cosplay. Best attempt at a medieval costume for your favorite fairytale character. Whether you are enchanted by fantastic dragons or courageous knights\, please bring your favorite tale to share.  \n \nSet up: 9AM Rapier: Armor inspection will be at 9:30 AM and fighting will commence at 10 AM.  \n \nA&S Class: Period Potluck Contributions for Slackers taught by Her Highness Clare Elena Please bring your Arts and Sciences project or peruse the A&S chest to find a new project.  \n \nFeast: Feast is potluck. Event steward will bring the main dish. Please bring your favorite Medieval/Renaissance food to share\, along with the written ingredients. All contributions that are fairytale themed can be added to the Fantastic Fairytale Foods competition. Please be aware: No shellfish or orange on site due to severe allergies. Thank you!  \n \nArts and Sciences Competitions: Storytelling Competition: Bring your favorite fairytale\, myth\, or legend. Each entry will be scored on Presentation\, Quality\, and Creativity. Wreath of Athena: Fiber Arts. Documentation is encouraged but not required. Competition is open to everyone. Contact the event steward to arrange to transport your entry if you are unable to attend. Bardic will be held after the feast.  Fantastic Fairytale Foods: Serve it forth! Your best interpretation of a fairytale food. Please note whether it is edible or decorative. There are paved sidewalks at both parking lots. \nBodies of Water on/near Site:   There are no immediate bodies of water near the site. \nInsects or wild animals to be aware of on/ near site:   Kodiak Brown bears do frequently wander the area and occasionally the site. This is usually during the early morning or late evening hours but not always. Use precaution when leaving vehicles or buildings and make noise. Mosquitos\, bees\, hornets\, and wasps may be out. If driving on Kodiak roads\, deer and bears are always road hazards\, especially in low visibility. Drive with caution. Though not an animal- Kodiak Island weather and temperature are unpredictable and change quickly. Be prepared to dress for the weather. Less than two years\, and War Leader. There will be a melee element that potential War Leader must participate in. The format of the lists will be determined by turnout. The Champion will receive the title of War Leader of Southern Shores along with some spiffy regalia and a prize! \nRapier lists will also be one tournament with three categories of victory. Less than two years and Defender of Southern Shores. Reduced armor experiment kit will be allowed. The Champion will receive the title of Defender of Southern Shores along with some spiffy regalia and a prize! \nPrizes will be given to the Winners! \nThere will also be a variety of Arts and Sciences displays and discussions\, we hope to have the final draft on the Southern Shores newcomers Facebook page late February or early March. \nNo site fee (but donations are welcome)! So\, if you have friends who want to know what the SCA is all about– bring them! If you just want to spend a day in the park with friends– bring yourself!
