Whether your passion is for fiber arts\, cooking\, swordplay\, or any other creative pursuit in The Known World\, the Shire of Pavlok Gorod cordially invites you to Swords and Needles! This year’s theme is something old and something new. Be prepared to learn an art from someone else.  Rapier: Armor inspection will be at 10AM and fighting will commence at 11 AM. Please bring your Arts and Sciences project to work on or peruse the A&S chest to find a new project.  \n \nFeast: Feast is potluck picnic lunch. Please bring your favorite Medieval/Renaissance or picnic food to share\, along with the written ingredients. Modern last names A-H please bring a main dish. I-P please bring a side dish. We will be meeting at the field behind Balboa Pool in Balboa Park (look for the SCA sign as you clear the building) at 51 Havelock St.\, San Francisco\, CA 94112\, which is accessible by car\, MUNI\, and BART. Feast will be pot-latch style\, so bring something to share! Tournaments will be held for both rapier and heavy champion following similar formats. The format will be a 4-round tournament with combatants matched by dice roll for each round (ie: you will fight four times. Your opponent will be picked at random each time from among fighters you haven’t fought yet). Each of the four rounds will represent a different chivalric virtue: Round 1: Prowess. To be fought with sword and shield / rapier and dagger. Round 2: Courage. To be fought with single sword alone and no shield or offhand weapon or device. Round 3: Largess. You generously get to fight with two swords at once. Round 4: Loyalty. 2v2 matches fought with sword and shield / rapier and buckler. The winning team only gets a point if both members survive.
