The Canton of Hawks Haven invites you to a day of competition\, fun and companionship with fighting\, arts and socialization. All fighters are invited to participate in Prize Tournaments\, for both Heavy and Rapier. Win the heavy tournament\, take home a turkey for your Feast. And for the more refined palettes of our steel fighters\, you will take home a set of cornish game hens. These will be mad dog style tournaments\, so you’ll get as much fighting as you can stand. For the not so marshally minded\, there will be classes and also be a Dirty Half Dozen Competition! Make (6) of any largess item and bring them to the event. This is an entrant judged competition and the winner will take home a $50 Michaels gift card. The rest will be donated to the Baronial largess coffers. This is a chance to show off your skill and creativity\, so mark each item with your name. Rapier: there will be a rapier tournament. Armor inspection will be at 9AM. Fighting begins at 10 AM.  \n \nFeast: Feast is potluck. Please bring ingredients list. Puddle Pirate Cove Household will bring the main course. Modern last names beginning A-L please bring your favorite Medieval/Renaissance side dish to share. Modern last names beginning M-Z please bring your favorite Medieval/Renaissance dessert to share. PLEASE NOTE: NO ORANGES or SHELLFISH on site due to severe allergies. The sidewalks are paved and in good condition. In case we have ice and/or snow they should have ice melt applied for the event. The event is inside the Library with wheelchair accessible doors and bathrooms. The event will be held in the multi-purpose room and then the craft room.. \nBodies of Water on/near Site:   There are no bodies of water in the immediate vicinity of the Library but is located less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean and is visible from the Library parking lot. \nInsects or wild animals to be aware of on/ near site:  Mosquitos could still be be a nuisance\, depending on the outside ambient temperature. Please take proper precautions. Bears are always a concern on Kodiak island and special care should be taken in the early morning\, the late evening hours\, when traversing Kodiak trails or out in the woods\, or disposing of trash. Please be sure to make lots of noise to alert the bears to your presence and keep a very healthy distance. Do not attempt to feed or pet. They move very quickly and are dangerous. Deer are out in the early morning and late evening so special care should be taken when driving on our roads during these times. It is very easy to come upon deer in the road without notice. Please keep a healthy distance and do not attempt to feed or pet. Please also be aware that inclement weather is always a concern on Kodiak island both for driving our roads and traveling to and from. Dense fog\, low visibility\, heavy rain\, very icy conditions\, and even blizzard conditions are a normal part of the Kodiak climate.
