Less than two years\, and War Leader. There will be a melee element that potential War Leader must participate in. The format of the lists will be determined by turnout. The Champion will receive the title of War Leader of Southern Shores along with some spiffy regalia and a prize! \nRapier lists will also be one tournament with three categories of victory. Less than two years and Defender of Southern Shores. Reduced armor experiment kit will be allowed. The Champion will receive the title of Defender of Southern Shores along with some spiffy regalia and a prize! \nPrizes will be given to the Winners! \nThere will also be a variety of Arts and Sciences displays and discussions\, we hope to have the final draft on the Southern Shores newcomers Facebook page late February or early March. \nNo site fee (but donations are welcome)! So\, if you have friends who want to know what the SCA is all about– bring them! If you just want to spend a day in the park with friends– bring yourself! Archery Hunt and Novelty Shoot\, Shire of Windy Meads (Davis\, CA) Fair weather is returning! Grab your bow and join us under the trees of Yolo County’s medieval forest for our annual Hunt and Novelty Shoot! This event gets better every year! Life-size 3-D foam animals sheltering under the trees\, magical creatures and angry ducks await your arrows. Defend your comrades from the enemy fighters popping up from behind the barricade or the giant red dragon. Save us from pestilential plague rats! Targets suitable for beginners to champions will be in the mix. Youth and novice archers are encouraged to join in the fun\, but beginner lessons won’t be available. Loaner gear can be available by prior arrangement only. No compound bows (SCA rules) or crossbows (Club rules). Not interested in shooting? Join us anyway and work on your project under the trees.  \n \nGate opens at 9:00 AM and the shoot starts at 10:30 AM. Soup and bread for lunch\, but you are welcome to bring something to share. There are paved sidewalks at both parking lots. \nBodies of Water on/near Site:   There are no immediate bodies of water near the site. \nInsects or wild animals to be aware of on/ near site:   Kodiak Brown bears do frequently wander the area and occasionally the site. This is usually during the early morning or late evening hours but not always. Use precaution when leaving vehicles or buildings and make noise. Mosquitos\, bees\, hornets\, and wasps may be out. If driving on Kodiak roads\, deer and bears are always road hazards\, especially in low visibility. Drive with caution. Though not an animal- Kodiak Island weather and temperature are unpredictable and change quickly. Be prepared to dress for the weather.
