Cynagua Summer Investiture

Saturday July 13th, 2019
Yuba City, California

Greetings Cynagua and joyous Felicitations for on this day Their Highnesses of Cynagua,  Seth Mac Alpin and Gwendwyn The Silent, do wish to invite the populace of Cynagua and the Kingdom of the West to come celebrate and bear witness to the Investiture of Their Heirs, Heinrich von Melk and Else Hunrvogt, the Lord and Lady of the Swan.

Martial combat: The Lady of the Swan invites all heavy, rapier and youth martial fighters to participate as Venens at a glorious Pas d’Armes to celebrate her investiture.
Her Excellency has sent personal missives to all those Royal Peers that she and the Lord of the Swan have served in the past.  She asked for their assistance in selecting a suitable Champion either by serving as Tenans on the field of combat or as members of the gallery.  With responses still rolling in, the field is looking epic and the gallery inspiring.

Her Excellency will chose a Champion or Champions from the heavy and rapier combatants who declare an intent to vie for that position.  She has a special soft spot for multi-talented fighters who inspire through deeds and recognize that brevity is the soul of wit.

Their Excellencies seek to augment their guard with more youth members and will be offering positions to one or more of the youth combatants who declare an interest and have parental approval.  The tasks of the youth guard are to fight at such times as do not interfere with school or home life.

Any combatant who does not wish one of the above roles is still encouraged to come fight for the joy of combat and the amusement of the gallery.  All non-combatants are invited to witness these deeds and to add to the joy of the day.

Arts & Sciences competition: Period Summer survival – make items that people in the Medieval/Renaissance period might use to survive a warm climate.  How did Crusaders survive summer in the Middle East? How did the Turks, Arabs and Persians survive?  Put your art, craft or skills to work creating these documentable summer survival gear.  One page documentation is recommended. (research papers are welcome, please contact A&S a month ahead of time to arrange judging)

Peri-oid summer encampment/feast survival – Like the above, SCAdians need to survive our summers. Create something that might not be period, but rather doesn’t offend the eyes with modernity.

(note: needs to fit on ¼ of a standard table in a feast hall. Anything larger will need prior intent to the A&S officer, so we can plan with the autocrat)
