Pavlok Gorod Newcomers' Event XX

The Shire of Pavlok Gorod cordially invites you to our twentieth annual Newcomers Event! This year’s theme this what brought you to the SCA (or continues to inspire you).

Rapier: there will be a rapier tournament. Armor inspection will be at 9AM.

Feast: Feast is potluck. Please bring ingredients list. Event Steward will bring the main course. Modern last names beginning A-L please bring your favorite Medieval/Renaissance side dish to share. Modern last names beginning M-Z please bring your favorite Medieval/Renaissance dessert to share. PLEASE NOTE: NO ORANGES, SHELLFISH, LAMB, OR HEMP on site due to severe allergies. If you have allergies, please let the event steward know immediately!

Roundtable discussion: what brought you to the SCA.
Arts and Sciences display: what brought you to the SCA or continues to inspire you in any mode.
Arts and Sciences Competition: what brought you to the SCA or continues to inspire you in any mode. Any item from the display can be added to the competition. If edible, please include ingredients list.
Classes: TBD.
Bardic.
Silent Auction: There will be a silent auction to support future events in Pavlok Gorod. Donations for the silent auction will joyfully be accepted.

There will be a post-event BBQ.

Lodging for off-island cousins: Limited lodging, local transportation, and hospitality will be joyfully provided to off island guests in the homes of our populace. Please contact the event steward as soon as possible with your travel plans.

Terrain Description: The parking lot is packed dirt and gravel. It will be muddy when wet. There is a cement pad for handicap parking that leads into the building.
Insects or wild animals to be aware of on/ near site: Kodiak Brown bears do frequently wander the area and occasionally the site. This is usually during the early morning or late evening hours but not always. Use precaution when leaving vehicles or buildings and make noise. Mosquitos, bees, hornets, and wasps may still be out in September. If driving on Kodiak roads, deer and bears are always road hazards, especially in low visibility. Drive with caution.

Weather: Kodiak Island weather and temperature are unpredictable and change quickly. Be prepared to dress for the weather. Drive with headlights on at all times.

Additional Comments: This property including parking lot is a completely dry site. No smoking within 25 feet of the building. The designated smoking area is in the upper parking lot against the fence closest to the sidewalk and the property line for the little house next door. Due to allergies, please do not bring pets on site. The building is surrounded by residential homes. Please be considerate of the neighbors.

Directions: 

From the Kodiak Benny Benson State Airport, head north toward Rezanof Dr W, then turn left toward Airport Way. Make a slight left onto Airport Way, then turn right onto Rezanof Dr W for 4.9 miles. Continue straight onto Lower Mill Bay Rd. Destination will be on the left.
The Hope Community Resources building is a white two story building. To get to the Hope Rec Room, pull into the Hope parking lot and drive down the small incline turning right into the lower parking lot. The Rec Room door is facing the lower parking lot.
