West Kingdom Riders
Our delayed Equestrian Campion Competition is to be held on April 14th. The arena opens at 9 am on Sat. The morning is for warmups and practicing and, perhaps (sez the Eq MiC, Vscts Mistress Margarite) some surprise contests!
After the lunch break, we will hold the Champion competitions, listed below.
NOTE: We DO NOT have access to the barn as it was just, at the end of Jan, leased to a 4H club. This is why all the activities are on Sunday. If you wish to overnight, it may be possible to set up your own portable pen inside the arena Sat night (no horses allowed to run loose in the arena), but it will need to come down by 9am Sunday.
In addition, YOU MUST contact Margarite, who is the on-site EqMiC no later than April 7th as she would need to camp out with you on Sat. for insurance purposes.

FROM OUR CURRENT CHAMPION:
This year, the format and inspiration for our Equestrian Championship will be from the Persian epic, Shahnameh.
There are three activities. The Gorz mace pattern (see WK EQ Facebook page for pattern:
Riders perform a simple zig-zag pattern as they wield the mighty Gorz mace, chopping off the heads of their enemies as they reach each pillar.
Any gait and gait combinations are acceptable. The goal is to keep your horse facing forward and a smile on your face.
Lancing - Contestants can choose to test their skills at the quintain or tent pegging.
We will also be testing our physical prowess with the birgas game!
